About Futuristguy and This Blog
I am by profession an editor. Since the early 1980s, I’ve worked for a diverse clientele. They may write from popular to academic works, with a broad range of topics: forms of abuse and violence, public health, medical research, psychology and personal recovery, systematic theology, cultural analysis, church planting, learning styles, “gamified” trainings and simulations, grant proposals, academic course catalogues, and procedure manuals.
I am by passion a research writer. Since 2007, my primary research writing focus has been on church and ministry cases of systemic abuse, misuse of authority, clergy misconduct, and other forms of abuse and violence. Secondarily, I write and edit materials on the parallel set of issues in society.
So, much of my work intersects with issues involving systemic abuse and societal oppression, survivor recovery, personal advocacy, and social change activism. I started this blog in January 2018 because I saw the need for a central place with the links to go with concepts I reference regularly when I write or when people ask me questions. And I decided to include some instructions about how to access public information that is crucial to developing a well-researched case study. I figured that if I was looking for these kinds of information all in one place, other people might be, too.
I found some of the sources during my own research work. Some have been linked to periodically by others in survivor communities and I ran across them there. If someone in particular was the source of a concept or link, I will note that.
This Researcher Notes won’t have everything you might want or need to study systemic abuse, but hopefully it will provide some helpful resources.

Notes and Disclaimers
This research material is meant to be informational and educational – NOT legal advice. I am a research writer and blogger, not a lawyer. If you have concerns about potential legal issues related to abusive actions by individuals and/or institutions, see a lawyer who can help you identify and interpret relevant local, state, and federal laws and regulatory statutes.
PROJECT PARAMETERS. It is my intent to provide links to resources especially of help for those doing investigative research and serve survivors – not to be comprehensive about every possible resource for every kind of situation, theology, or denomination. At this time, I’m also focusing primarily on the American legal situation, academic research, and statistics, and secondarily on general statistics worldwide. It’s beyond the current scope of my time availability to develop lists of legal or recovery resources worldwide.
UPDATING CONTENT; CONTACT FORM. Consider all pages to be “in process.” I have done my best to find resources, and am providing the most current links or versions of relevant information I can. However, I can’t guarantee it is the most current or complete version available or in force. I’ve also written step-by-step instructions for how to use certain research sites. However, procedures are notoriously difficult to get clear, concise, and accurate. Corrections, and suggestions for additional research categories and resources, are welcomed via the contact form page.
AFTER THE INITIAL REVIEW PERIOD. Once the initial uploading, reviewing, and editing is done (spring 2018), this will become a relatively static site by design. Comments will then be turned off, but the contact form will still be available to submit suggestions and corrections. I plan to continue updating pages as time allows.
NO UNCONDITIONAL ENDORSEMENTS. Inclusion of an article or other source does not mean I give it unconditional endorsement. At this point, some topics don’t have the kind of authoritative and comprehensive information needed to do the kind of research work that may be necessary. I will try to provide something that is substantial, even if it may have flaws. So, reader be aware and beware; read and discern for yourself.
